Initially struggling with extreme shyness and social anxiety, Zakir faced the added barrier of linguistic isolation. However, through his dedicated engagement with our community centers, he mastered the Assamese language and gained the social courage to step into the role of a confident Student Leader.
Today, Zakir is not only a learner but a teacher, mentoring younger students within the community. His growth extends beyond the classroom into the heart of his home, where he has become a vocal advocate for gender equality. By championing his sister’s educational rights and ensuring her voice is heard within their family, Zakir embodies the very leadership and equity that Snehjori strives to cultivate in every young person.

Azirun Nesa

From Exclusion to Leadership and Aspiration

Azirun Nesa: A Journey from Exclusion to Empowered Leadership

At just 13 years old, Azirun Nesa has achieved a profound transformation, overcoming significant linguistic, social, and emotional barriers that once kept her on the margins. Through the sustained intervention of Snehjori’s library programs and dedicated staff, she moved past these obstacles to emerge as a confident Children Leader. Azirun has not only mastered expressive skills in Assamese but has also discovered a deep talent for arts and storytelling, using these tools to find her voice.
Today, Azirun is a pillar of her community, volunteering her time to guide and mentor younger students. Her journey is marked by academic recognition and, most importantly, a courageous commitment to her own future. By choosing to prioritize her education and explicitly vowing to avoid early marriage, Azirun embodies the strength and aspiration that Snehjori seeks to ignite in every young girl in the Kamrup region.

At 13 years old, Morzina Khatoon has demonstrated remarkable resilience, overcoming significant familial restrictions to become a beacon of academic success and self-reliance. Through her engagement with Snehjori, she transitioned from facing paternal educational barriers to becoming a top academic performer and a trusted Peer Educator. Her journey is a testament to the power of confidence-building, as she mastered storytelling and the arts while gaining the academic discipline required to excel.
Today, Morzina plays a pivotal role within the organization, serving as a mentor to younger children and inspiring her peers with her dedication. Her transformation has not only fostered her personal independence but has also inspired profound trust within her own family and the wider community. Morzina embodies the spirit of a quick learner who has turned personal challenges into a leadership opportunity, proving that education is the ultimate key to autonomy.
